Here’s a little more low carb version of the good ole shepards pie. Instead of mashed potato im using cauliflower and instead of lamb some moose meat. Although there is absolutely no reason why you can’t use the lamb here too, so if you’re into lamb then go for it. Here’s how it goes:

  • 400g minced moose meat
  • 400g cauliflower ( i added some broccoli too to get a nice bit of color)
  • 30 g butter
  • 15 g olive oil for frying the meat
  • 100g grated cheese
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic
  • spices according to taste

Boil the cauliflower bits in salted water until soft, mash them and add most of the cheese, butter and 3 crushed garlic cloves and mix them well. or take a short cut here and just throw them all together without mashing and crushing and use a blender instead:)

Fry the minced meat in olive oil with rest of the garlic and some spices (f. ex. salt, white pepper, chili…)

Put the meat in a dish and next the mash, top it with some cheese and pop it in the oven at 200°C for about half an hour (or until cheese is nice and a little brown here and there).
